Inspiration
During the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, (1618-1707) wanted the conversion of ordinary subjects to his religion by force at that time in India.
Reeling under the political and religious suppression of the time representatives of Kashmir pundits lead by Pundit Kirpa Ram Datt approached Sri Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji the ninth master of the Sikhs to intervene as a religious leader and press upon the emperor to not to do so. Emperor Aurangzeb looking it as a political and religious opportunity to convert everybody to the state religion emphasized through his officials in asking Guru Tegh Bahadar to convert to Islam. Guru Tegh Bahadar who had always preached equal respect to every faith will not be bent by force and thus was tortured to the maximum. His followers who accompanied with him to the kingdom to represent Kashmir pundits was boiled in hot water alive and were sawed in to half so that he can be persuaded to convert to the state religion.
Guru Tegh Bahadar did not budge under state torture and thus was ultimately ordered by emperor to be beheaded. Guru was beheaded. He sacrificed himself to protect the religious rights of everybody.
THUS
The selfless sacrifice for the cause of others And the moral teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji have given us the direction to work selflessly.
We believe in his saying that if your cause is right for the humanity then there is no fear.
